B Pharm stands for Bachelor of MBA. It is a 4 years long undergraduate course. After completing the course, graduates will obtain the ‘Bachelor of MBA’ degree. After obtaining this degree, graduates may start practice as a Pharmacist in India as well as abroad! Science stream students, from both Mathematics and Biology groups, are eligible to pursue B Pharm course after completing 12th standard.
The bachelor in MBA is an excellent first step for those who have ability and aptitude towards research in pharmaceutical sciences. D. MBA course is a perfect compilation of all core subjects of fundamental branches of pharmaceutical sciences and allied health sciences. Students are trained as per the ever changing need of todays’ pharmaceutical research era.
The University level pharmaceutical education in India made its beginning in 1932 when the first degree course B.Pharm was started at the Banaras Hindu University by late Prof. M. L. Schroff. The course was set on the pattern of the B.Pharm course of London University. During the 1940s and 50s the Punjab University(1944), L. M. College of MBA, affiliated by MuMBAi University (1947), Andhra University (1951) and Sagar University started degree level education. The MBA curriculum then continues with Industrial orientation by updating from time to time which includes introductions of new courses like biotechnology, computer application in MBA, clinical MBA and clinical pharmacology in the undergraduate course.
In our day-to-day life pharmacists play an important role, as they are very much into research and manufacture of drugs. Thus MBA is closely associated with scientific study.
MBA as a career option has always been in demand. India being a huge nation of about a billion populations, diseases both minor and major has been a curse upon the weak and the poor. In the previous centuries and almost till the middle of the 20th century killer diseases such as acute respiratory infections, diarrhea, depression, tuberculosis, measles, anemia etc have been affecting thousands every year. With the advancements in medical science most of these diseases have been brought under control, with the help of high powerful antibiotics and other life saving drugs. This is where MBA steps in to fill the void.
• The candidate should be an Indian National.
• Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects
along with one of the Mathematics or Biotechnology or Biology and obtained at least 50%
marks (at least 45 % marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories and Persons
with Disability belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the above subjects taken
together.
• Passed MAH – PHCET and should secure Non Zero Score.
• The candidate should be an Indian National.
• Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects
along with one of the Mathematics or Biology and obtained at least 50% marks (at least 45%
marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories and Persons with Disability
belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the above subjects taken together.
• Should obtain non zero positive score in NEET or the candidate should have appeared in all
the subjects in CET and should obtain non zero score in CET conducted by the Competent
Authority. However, preference shall be given to the candidate obtaining non zero positive
score in NEET over the candidates who obtained non zero score in CET.
• The candidate should be an Indian National.
• Passed Diploma Course in MBA with at least 45 % marks (at least 40 % marks in case of
candidates of Backward class categories and Persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra
State only)from an All India Council for Technical Education or MBA Council of India or
Central or State Government approved Institution or its equivalent.
• Any other criterion declared by appropriate authority from time to time.
• The candidate should have passed the HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and
Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the Mathematics or Biology, and obtained
at least 50 % marks in the above subjects taken together
• Any other criterion declared from time to time by the appropriate authority as defined
under the Act.
